Karine Gombeau went for a walk around the streets of New York after visiting the city. Her attention was drawn to a homeless man walking next to the garbage cans in one of the alleys and, as she considered, likely looking for food there.

In the nearest diner, Karine bought a pizza and handed it to the man without thinking. The next morning, she discovered that she had mistaken Richard Gere for a beggar when she opened the papers. In her opinion, Karine noticed that there were more homeless people in the city than in Europe. She decided to help the man in the alley sincerely after she felt touched by him more than others.

The woman did not understand any of the man’s explanations because she did not know English well. As she walked around the city, the Frenchwoman handed him a package and wished him a good day. In contrast, when actors are working on the streets of the city, paparazzi follow them everywhere. The next day, a series of photos appeared in the newspapers. According to the papers, Gere had just finished a shoot that day and didn’t want to change his character during lunch.

This only shows how well and carefully the make-up artists and stylists worked on Gere’s image. Karine and her family came to this part of the city by accident, not knowing that a film was being shot nearby. Gere admitted to reporters later that he was seriously influenced by a woman’s kindness.
