At first, Michael Brown’s adoptive mother did not plan to adopt him. She changed her mind after living with him for a while.
Michael Brown’s Twitter picture showing his reaction to the news of his adoption has received more than 150,000 likes. Michael participated in patronage education recently, a system in which children in need of guardianship live temporarily in foster homes and receive state support.
Tara Montgomery took in the boy in February 2015, when he was only 18 months old, and has raised him with her daughters since then.
Initially, adoption was not discussed. Michael was expected to reunite with his biological mother after some time. In the end, her parental rights were revoked.
As a single mother, I didn’t consider adoption at first. However, Michael changed my plans. From the beginning, I felt like he was part of our family. Upon waking up in the morning, he comes up to me and says, “Mom, I’m so happy,” Montgomery told the Huffington Post.
