Originally from Mexico, Carmen and Lupita now live in the United States.
Doctors did not give the girls’ parents a favorable prognosis when they were born fused in the abdomen. Fortunately, the twins did not live up to the predictions of experts. Siamese twins celebrated their 22nd birthday in 2023. Doctors have repeatedly offered Carmen and Lupita an operation to separate their bodies due to the unique possibilities of modern medicine. Fear of consequences prevents the girls from agreeing.
Carmen and Lupita’s lives do not consist only of restrictions. One sister drives a car freely, while the other is dating a young man who has already proposed marriage. As well, both girls have decided to become veterinarians and are preparing to begin their training. Clothing selection was one of the main challenges special sisters faced. However, this problem has already been resolved, the tailor neighbor offered to sew custom-made outfits for Lupita and Carmen.
The girls say they often feel each other’s emotions as a psychic connection. In an effort to help other Siamese twins, Carmen and Lupita decided to share their story. There is a tendency for many people to look askance at people with disabilities and violate their boundaries. As an example, we are constantly asked about our personal lives, how we use the restroom, etc. However, we should never forget that we are not just Siamese twins, we are people,” Carmen says.
Despite receiving a lot of offensive questions and comments on social networks, the twins learn not to pay attention to them.
