Riley Ferguson is the guardian angel of 15-month-old Reggie Hampton, according to his parents.

A 15-year-old boy was walking his dogs along the canalized section of the Eyre and Calder Rivers in West Yorkshire, England, when he saw 15-month-old Reggie Hampton fall into the water. The back gate of the house was open when Reggie ran out of the garden. “I heard this little kid screaming and waving his arms,” Riley said. It dawned on me that he was very small. In order to prevent the boy from falling into the water, I held him.”

Several seconds later, the kid ran up to the canal, and I saw his feet dipping into the water. Jumping after him, I threw off my coat. As I swam to the child, he had already almost sunk to the bottom. You’ll be fine, I’m with you.” I told him. Riley’s mom, Becca, called the baby a “guardian angel” on Facebook. A photo of Riley and Reggie was posted by Becca with the following caption: We will print this picture, put it in a frame, and hang it so Reggie can see it… So he knows who his angel is. Riley will always be Reggie’s hero and we are forever indebted to you.

Michael and Amy Riley were very proud of their brave son. We’re stunned, and we’re very proud of him. He was great, our son wasn’t strong enough to pull the child out of the canal by himself, and he held the baby above the water until others could rescue him.” Tom Gordon urged the mayor to recognize Riley for his bravery and selflessness. “We’re very lucky to have a guy like Riley in our city,” Gordon said. As a hero, he deserves recognition.

In an effort to award Riley the Pride of Britain award, locals have launched a campaign. They set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money for Riley, but he won’t accept it – he’ll donate the money to the NHS (UK Health Service
