Des and Mona Monahan have been married for over 56 years. Des is 84 years old, and his wife is 83 years old.
Mona began losing her sight, and soon she would become completely blind due to a disaster in the family. As a result, she could only rely on her husband for everything. She cannot see anything with her left eye. The woman is unable to do many of the things she used to do, including morning makeup. Des, at the request of his wife, only helped fix Mona’s makeup when her eyesight was just beginning to deteriorate. As the situation worsened, Mona could no longer do her own makeup.
Additionally, the woman’s hands began to shake, making it impossible to hold the brushes. As a result of her helplessness, Mona often cried. To support his beloved wife, I decided to learn how to do her makeup. In the makeup department of the local mall, Des told professional makeup artist Rosie O’Driscoll what had happened in his family and why he wanted to learn makeup. Rosie was touched by this story and agreed to help him. Des was taught the art of makeup by the woman for eight months: how to apply makeup consistently, how to blend colors, and how to understand brushes.
The man now knows how to hide his wife’s flaws and emphasize her dignity. Des even developed certain preferences, according to Rosie. He prefers to use a pencil rather than shadows for eyebrows, for example. If he doesn’t like a particular shade of lipstick Rosie suggests, he demands it be changed. Des believes he knows best what suits his wife. She and Mona follow the golden rule when it comes to applying makeup: less is more. She comments, “He thinks I’m beautiful just the way I am.”. As a result of her husband, the woman feels beautiful.

In London, Mario invited the couple and makeup artist Rosie to his master class after he was touched by Des’ act of love for his wife. We are so excited about this event!
