A stray dog with a swollen face walked along the streets of Udaipur (Rajasthan) for some time. His face looked like a pig’s head because of a large tumor.

When a compassionate woman spotted the dog, she contacted Animal Aid volunteers who help animals. The tumor was removed from the dog during surgery.Wagging his tail, the dog allowed people to lure him with cookies without any problems.

Upon examination, the dog was found not to have a tumor. Nevertheless, there was a large purulent abscess, most likely caused by another dog’s bite.Only the veterinarian needed to shave the dog’s face and carefully release the blood pus from the wound cavity. After inserting a drain tube and sewing up the incision, he irrigated the wound.

Despite the operation, the dog recovered quickly and appeared to be in good spirits. The dog’s face now looked quite normal.

Most of the stray dogs Animal Aid helps end up on the streets, where they used to live on garbage. In India, there are too many such dogs and private shelters cannot accommodate them. There is only one way to get there: if you are completely crippled. Those who cannot survive without human assistance.

What happened to this dog next is unknown. He ended up in a shelter or was he returned to the same street. Based on the improvement in his condition, it is most likely the latter.
