Chartered Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Sarah Konk is 28 years old. When she was in Haiti, she was able to help both morally and physically so many children.
One day, however, an incident completely changed her life. She once worked at a medical center where a little girl was brought in. She was 3 months old at the time. Despite her serious condition, she was still alive. The baby suffered from severe hydrocephalus and urgently needed surgery. Nicky was the name of the girl. She was taken to the hospital by a woman who identified herself as the baby’s aunt.
Everything went well with the baby’s surgery. Nicky’s condition was satisfactory to the doctors. As she recovered, she was preparing for discharge. In reality, the woman who called herself an aunt was the baby’s mother. She disappeared after leaving her daughter in the hospital. Her phone number was still found by the caring workers at the medical center. They called and asked her if they could take the child, but she refused. By promising that she would help financially, Sarah convinced the mother to let her take her daughter. Additionally, Nicky’s medical care will always be free.
Sarah decided to find out what the baby’s condition was after some time. She called her mother, but she didn’t answer. She was seized by panic. She decided to go straight to the home of this child because she was very concerned about him. For the rest of her life, Sarah will remember what she saw there. Upon entering the house, she found the girl lying on the floor among garbage and other rubbish. Sarah’s worst fears were confirmed: the mother abandoned the child. Taking the girl to the hospital was not a problem for the woman. There were no predictions from the doctors regarding her condition, which was very serious.
However, Nicky and Sarah fought valiantly. I can’t believe how much the baby has changed. Sarah took custody of Nicky six months later. After all the documents were in order, the girl went to a new home. She is already two years old, and she is very happy. With a mother like hers, she has everything she needs.
