Together, she and the family decided that accepting Carter into their extended family would be best for Carter’s well-being. All the relatives gathered at Kiphart’s house for Christmas.
Carter enjoyed spending time with his cousins, uncle, and aunt. Carter was given many gifts and a touching letter asking if he would like to join a new family. Among other gifts, the boy found a letter and a photograph. Carter wept as he read it. “Carter, this is a recent picture of our family. In the next photo, we all want you to be with us, and become part of our family. Do you want to become Kiphart – our son and brother? Carter’s aunt wrote, “We love you.”After reading the letter, Carter burst into tears and replied, “Yes.” All of the family members were moved – the aunt hugged the boy tightly.
