He raised his adopted daughter as his own: after 16 years, she made him cry

Jay Page’s relatives made his birthday magical and unforgettable. Jay opened one gift after another with his relatives and loved ones, as per holiday tradition.

Trying to guess what was inside a white rectangular box with a silver bow, he picked it up. He read the congratulations card, then opened the box to find a sealed envelope. Jay burst into tears as soon as he pulled some paper out of the envelope. He couldn’t hold back his tears, even as an adult.

In honor of Jay’s birthday, he got fully completed adoption paperwork that just needed his signature. Jay and his wife were ready to submit them the next Monday, and that meant the world to him. Celissa’s mom, Lisa, and Jay met when they were 21. Initially, Lisa says Jay was “definitely intimidated” by the prospect of fathering Celissa. Over time, it turned out Jay and Selissa were one of a kind. Several years ago, Jay found out he couldn’t have kids. According to Lisa, Jay and Celissa’s relationship was “a great blessing.”

Jay raised her as his own daughter, taught her self-defense, swimming, and driving. Throughout the past few years, Jay has often talked about adopting her. But he’s never had money or opportunities. Celissa lost all hope when she turned 18. Prospective parents usually have to spend a lot on attorneys, determination, and perseverance during the adoption process. In the end, it’s worth it.

He couldn’t stop hugging his daughter. Once he regained his senses, he told his daughter: “Your adoption and marriage are always on my mind.”. Congrats to Jay now that he’s halfway there!
