Locals in the Nakhon Sawan region of Thailand found a macaque in the bushes and brought him to their hamlet as a pet.
Jaon Khan’s two-month-old cub was only fed bananas by the locals, which left him severely underweight and stunted. Jaon Khan eats crabs. Jaon Khan was still too young to survive without his mother.
In a village, he had little chance of surviving. Thanks to a neighbor who called the shelter, a baby was removed from the mob and placed in a foundation shelter.
The monkey was given a cuddly plush giraffe there. Immediately, Jaon Khan grabbed it and is now clutching it with her obstinate little fists. In his eyes, the doll has served as a stand-in for his mother.
Even when napping or eating, the infant refuses to let go of the toy. The infant is fed by a shelter employee, not by the toy. Thankfully, he is now in good hands and we will socialize him with other monkeys once the quarantine period is over.
