Before meeting Rile the rat, Oasis, a three-year-old shepherd dog who had been trained as a rescuer and therapist, refused to make friends. Rile came to Oasis as a child. With a pipette, he was regularly fed after that.
As he watched the infant being cared for, the dog seemed to remember his own infancy. The cat needed love and care to cope with his loss, and Oasis understood that.
