The streets of New York were filled with orphaned kittens last year. Children left without a mother were in need of love and warmth. Kona, the dog named after a mother, could not contain her maternal instinct when she heard them screeching.
They were fortunately taken in by a volunteer named Asa. The girl had a dog called Kona at home, which was very gentle and caring. Her only reaction was to comfort the kittens when she heard them squealing.
She became more confident and calm around her brother and sister, nicknamed Chester and Blair. Despite the kittens’ lack of maternal warmth, Kona provided them with everything they needed. Apparently, she felt these two were afraid of everything and very closed off. She knew what to do.
Our kittens have lived with us for six weeks and are still afraid of me, but with Kona they are calm and happy,” says their owner. However, Kona hasn’t taken care of children before.
