Melissa Baird answered yes without hesitation when the refuge’s creator asked her if she would take in a rescued raccoon. Despite caring for 250 raccoons, Melissa had some reservations about the animal’s behavior.
Until another home could be found, she was asked to take care of her for a short time. Due to the refuge’s limited space, Melissa was concerned about how the two raccoons would get along.
It all went smoothly once the albino raccoon entered the shelter. It was Melissa who entered the raccoon’s enclosure the following morning despite everyone’s concerns.
However, nothing negative happened. As if thanking the grateful person for being so polite to her, the cute creature walked up to the grateful person, sniffed her, and put her hand in her palm.
Since she had never contacted anyone before, it was remarkable. They remained together for the rest of their lives. Her new amazing life was made possible by Melissa’s generous philanthropy.
