Ranger, an adult German Shepherd, will always look like a puppy because of a rare condition

Ranger is a 4-year-old German Shepherd who looks like a puppy. Dwarfism caused the dog to grow only a third of the breed’s standard size.

Ranger developed pituitary dwarfism as a result of inbreeding, that is, closely related crossings. Four-legged animals’ growth was affected by this disease. “Dwarfism is an inherited genetic disorder where both parents carry the defective gene. From about 2 months of age, a dog’s development is slowed by lack of growth hormone, according to veterinarian Lynn Janes.

Puppies affected by this condition are always smaller and have less hair than adults. Dwarf dogs have soft and fluffy fur, – Lynn Janes added. Shelby Mayo takes good care of Ranger, her pet. In fact, most dogs with dwarfism die before they reach the age of three.

Shelby, however, has taken excellent care of the shepherd dog, which is in excellent health. Ranger has an Instagram page created by the woman. This is all to raise awareness about the effects of inbreeding on dogs. The account has already been subscribed to by more than 139 thousand users.

Shelby frequently receives requests to breed dwarf shepherd dogs, which enrages her greatly. Ranger is her favorite, but she prevents breeding dogs with dwarfism, since this disease shortens their lives.
