A dog’s visit to a nursing home brings joy and sweetness to residents

During his visit to Craigielea Care Home in Renfrew (United Kingdom), Milo, a 4-legged companion, was in residence. Now it was the little dog’s turn to cuddle. A huge smile spread across the faces of seniors at Craigielea Care Home retirement home as they welcomed Milo. As he jumped from room to room, he shared moments of sweetness with the residents. As well as a warm embrace here and a succulent treat there, the canine had a pleasant day as well. Apart from receiving hugs, Milo also played with a few elderly people. Even those who could help him could walk him around the neighborhood. Finding the hairball made the residents very happy.

As soon as Milo walks in, you can feel the difference,” says facility manager Sheila Inshaw. He retrieves a ball thrown down the halls by everyone getting up from their chairs and chatting. When Milo jumps on our residents’ laps for a hug, it’s great fun for all of them.

Jodie Canavan said it’s been over a year since Milo’s first visit, and they can’t get enough of him. Dogs like him are calm and gentle. A Daily Records article published on March 8, 2022 described the visit of the animal as part of the residence’s pet therapy program

The latter, on the other hand, encourages boarders to stay active and socialize. Over the years, alpacas and other adorable animals have been welcomed with open arms. When Milo came, he helped people with dementia or cognitive disorders. They were stimulated and encouraged to participate in activities by the dog in the nursing home. This is like a breath of fresh air!
