Engaging with animals makes people feel comfortable. A unique shelter for both people and animals was established in California as a result.

A poetic name for the refuge is The Gentle Barn. You’ll find cows, horses, llamas, dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, lambs, and other creatures here. Each animal at the shelter has a unique story to tell. Former owners abused them all before they came here.

The cost of running an animal shelter is not cheap. Due to this, the proprietors devised a novel business model: opening their doors to those who want to connect with animals. At the shelter, cows are the center of attention. Sadly, the first cow that people embraced has already passed away.

She hugged over 300,000 people during her lifetime. A shelter owner, Ellie Lacks, noticed 20 years ago that animals have soothing effects and psychological benefits. As a result, she decided to allow anyone to speak with the animals.

The refuge also has a vegan restaurant. People from all over the country come here for therapy. In neighboring states, there are even two more shelters.
