When mom-cat Carly returned from the store, she was surprised to see her furry kitten showing a great deal of interest in her purchases. It was immediately apparent to her that Rebus was attracted to the siren song of strawberries.
It seemed that the 10-year-old kitten was completely captivated by the carton of delectable red berries. She put the package away and called his sister, a veterinarian, because she wasn’t sure strawberries were safe for cats.
Carly’s sister said Rebus was allowed to play with the strawberries, so Carly returned the box. As soon as Rebus received the box of strawberries, he was overjoyed. Kitty didn’t seem interested in eating the berries, so it wasn’t as if he suddenly developed a craving for something sweet.
Tossing them about like toys, he loved to brush against them. All day long, he bumps into them and plays with them. When he gets tired, he cuddles close to them and falls asleep with them. There could be a good reason for using a bouquet of strawberries as a safety blanket.
