Hercules weighs twice as much as a lion, which weighs about 200 kilograms. It is called a liger, and its main characteristic is its size: Hercules can reach the second floor easily in a backstand.

In the Institute of Endangered and Rare Species’ reserve, Hercules was born. In this case, the parents of the largest cat in the world lived in one large enclosure, not a zoo. There are no ligers in nature, since tigers and lions don’t share a range. Nature had no idea how the genes of big cats would combine during hybridization.

For a long time, scientists have studied the size of lions and discovered that lions pass on their growth genes to their descendants, while tigers do not. As a result, ligers are noticeably larger than both lions and tigers. In full growth, an ordinary lion grows about 2.6-2.8 meters, while Hercules grows 3.7 meters.

A liger with such dimensions should not be too dexterous. In spite of this, Hercules is able to run fast and swim dexterously. A representative of the cat family has not yet appeared on earth, which would make it even larger, since it has long been included in the Guinness Book of Records.
