Nakita Wilson and her French bulldog Perry were heartbroken after Perry gave birth to a dead puppy on May 23. Poor Perry stopped eating and getting up after losing the puppy.

“Perry howled in sadness. When I brought her home from the veterinarian’s office, she didn’t eat for a long time and didn’t get up. Nakita recalls both of us being depressed. Nakita received a call the very next day from a veterinarian friend asking if she would accept a litter of unwanted French Bulldog puppies. Nakita and Perry refused to let the puppies be euthanized because they did not match the breed’s conformation.

She immediately showed her pet the four puppies she brought home. Nakita was initially concerned that Perry would not accept puppies, since dogs are not always gentle with other people’s children. Perry changed instantly when she saw the babies. Upon becoming active again, she joyfully circled around the puppies, sniffing them. For the first time, the pups stopped whining and fell asleep after the dog fed them.

In Nakita’s words, “I knew it was the right decision to bring the puppies home. They will have a real mom and Perry will be happy again.” Perry is currently caring for her adopted babies, and they make her the happiest mom in the world.
