Rex, a German Shepherd, was a hero when armed robbers broke into his 16-year-old owner’s house while he was with him.
There was nowhere to wait for help because the boy’s older brother went to the gym and his parents were at work. Upon hearing the criminals breaking down the door, Javier ran to the second floor and hid in a wardrobe closet.He called 911 and reported the robbery, then texted his parents to come home as soon as possible.
A lot of clothes and shoes were taken from the house, as well as all the electronics. As much as he could, Rex interfered with the robbers.With a loud bark, he rushed at strangers, protecting his owner’s property.He severely beat one of the men after the dog bit him.Rex’s protective instinct made him go upstairs and check on his owner.

Rex was saved by the police, who arrived in time after the criminals escaped. As a result of learning about the dog’s act, social media users raised more than 60 thousand dollars for the family. In addition to surgical treatment, Javier’s family was able to pay for a pet psychologist who helped the dog cope with post-traumatic stress.. The dog had to undergo a year of rehabilitation before it could again approach people and animals fearlessly. PETA honored Rex’s heroic act.
